AEW dedicated its 12 September episode of Collision to Andy "The Butcher" Williams, opening with a ten-bell salute and closing with a video that moved between his wrestling career and the people who knew him. For Every Time I Die fans, it was a second scene saying goodbye to the same person.

AEW also held the Butcher Battle Royale, with a $100,000 donation going to a charity chosen by the winner. Daniel Garcia won and selected MusiCares in Williams’ name.

Helping People In Music

Garcia said Williams loved helping people, music and wrestling, and that MusiCares was a cause close to him. The organisation supports people working in music through mental health and addiction recovery services, healthcare help, basic-needs support and financial relief.

For those of us who knew Williams through Every Time I Die, seeing the wrestling world honour him this way hits hard. The donation gives people working in music somewhere to turn when they need support. That feels like a fitting way to remember him.
