Real Friends and vocalist Cody Muraro have separated after six years together. The band say the decision was mutual and came after a year of writing exposed creative differences between Muraro's direction and what the other members considered the band's musical identity.
Muraro says he is already working on new music and a separate project. Real Friends have not named a replacement or announced a release. Kyle Fasel, Dave Knox, Eric Haines and Brian Blake say they're taking time to work out what happens next.
Six Years With Cody Muraro
Muraro joined in 2020 after Dan Lambton's departure and sang on two EPs and 2024's Blue Hour. For anyone who found Real Friends through those releases, he may well be the voice they associate with the band.
What happens to the unfinished album is still unclear. Neither side has said whether the songs will be reworked, abandoned or used in another project.
