Blessthefall released Awakening on 4 October 2011 through Fearless Records. The record was their third full-length and the first to feature guitarist Elliott Gruenberg.
It was also Beau Bokan’s second album with the band. Michael ‘Elvis’ Baskette, who produced Witness, returned for a 13-track record that included ‘Promised Ones’ and a Big Chocolate remix of the same song.
That places Awakening at a specific point in the band’s catalogue: after Witness established the Bokan lineup, but before Hollow Bodies sharpened the version of Blessthefall many listeners still associate with their 2010s peak.
