How deathcore artwork became a language of its own

Dense logos, impossible anatomy and bleak landscapes became familiar sights in deathcore. The artwork suggested something extreme before you'd heard a note, and it looked a long way from an ordinary rock sleeve.

A good cover sets the mood for the record. Flyers and shirts carry that imagery further, helping listeners recognise bands and scenes across borders. The visual artists deserve to be credited as carefully as the producers.
