Hollow Front will release their fourth album, No Love Without Despair, independently on 11 December. The band says there is no label or management backing behind it: they paid for the recording, artwork, videos and merchandise themselves.
That detail matters more than the usual ‘new chapter’ language. Hollow Front openly admitted that there were points in the last few years when they did not know whether the band still had a future. This record exists because they chose to fund another full album anyway.
Dakota Alvarez is back on vocals after leaving in 2023. His recovery from an ischemic stroke currently keeps him from returning to his old guitar role, so the reunion is real without pretending everything has simply gone back to normal.
‘So Long To Yesterday’ introduced this version of Hollow Front last week. The album announcement confirms that his return was not built around a single comeback song.
