Anberlin will release Currency through Equal Vision Records on 11 November. The band's ninth studio album contains eleven tracks, was produced by Anberlin with Kellen McGregor, and is the first Anberlin full-length with Matty Mullins as lead vocalist.
Neverafter is the first single from the record. Anberlin drummer Nathan Young directed its official video with Jacob Moniz.
Matty Mullins leads a full Anberlin record
Mullins first appeared on two songs from Vega in 2024. Currency gives us a whole Anberlin album with his voice.
Equal Vision says the record deals with heartbreak, loss, addiction, shame and healing. Those difficult subjects set against bright melodies are familiar territory for Anberlin.
The Switchfoot connection runs through the record and tour
Switchfoot feature on Trenches. Anberlin's announcement also lists an extensive North American autumn tour, with the two bands sharing many of those dates before Currency arrives in November.
Anberlin have always moved between alternative rock, emo and post-hardcore. We're interested to hear how those melodies work across a full record with Mullins.
