The official Ramones 50th-anniversary tribute took place at Hollywood Forever on 30 August. Cretin Family brought Billie Joe Armstrong, Tim Armstrong, Travis Barker and C.J. Ramone together for a Ramones set, with Billy Idol, The Linda Lindas and Fred Armisen among the guests.

The players came from different generations of bands influenced by the Ramones. Hearing them share those songs made the connection clear without trying to recreate the original lineup.

Supporting The Ellison Institute

Held close to Johnny Ramone's resting place, the event supported cancer research led by Dr. David Agus at the Ellison Institute. It's a cause closely connected to the band, after cancer took Joey, Johnny and Tommy Ramone.

Ticket money and the attention around the anniversary helped support that research. A good reason to come together beyond playing the songs again.
