The Offspring guitarist Kevin ‘Noodles’ Wasserman is stepping away from live performances while he deals with what he described as a sudden and fairly serious health issue. He has not disclosed a diagnosis or said how long he expects to be away.
Noodles said the rest of the band supports the decision and will continue playing in his absence. His statement leaves the return open: “I hope to be back on stage sooner rather than later.”
Return to Smash, the record that pushed The Offspring out of the underground.
The announced shows remain listed
As of 24 October, The Offspring’s official tour page still lists The Wiltern in Los Angeles tonight, SEMA Fest in Las Vegas on 6 November and Corona Capital in Mexico City on 21 November. The band has not named a temporary replacement in its statement.
Noodles last appeared with the band at Mission Bayfest in San Diego on 18 October. He is The Offspring’s long-serving lead guitarist and has played across the band’s studio catalogue, so the absence changes a partnership heard throughout their recorded history rather than only the current touring lineup.
No room for speculation
The statement gives no further medical detail, and none is needed to report the practical change. The confirmed facts are that Noodles is taking time away, The Offspring intend to continue, and the published dates remain on the band’s calendar. Any update on his health or return should come from him or the band.
