Disfear have confirmed that longtime drummer Marcus Andersson has died after a four-year battle with glioblastoma. He leaves behind his wife, children and dog.

Andersson joined Disfear in 1998 and became central to the band's creative direction. His drumming powered the Tomas Lindberg era, including Misanthropic Generation and the Kurt Ballou-produced Live the Storm.

A Driving Force In Disfear

Disfear remember Marcus as a best friend, an incredible drummer and a driving force full of passion. In a 2008 interview, he spoke in detail about the long pre-production behind Live the Storm and the choices that gave individual songs their own atmosphere without losing the band's identity.

His death follows those of founding bassist Henrik Frykman in 2011 and vocalist Tomas Lindberg in 2025. The band said losing all three to cancer is hard to comprehend.

Their statement ends with four words worth carrying beyond the post: Hug your loved ones.
