Job for a Cowboy first released Doom through King of the Monsters in 2005. Metal Blade reissued it in 2006 with Entities added, taking the young Arizona band's EP to a much wider audience.

You Know The Scream

The insect-like shriek in Entombment of a Machine made the song recognisable within seconds as it spread through early video sites and message boards. Listen beyond it, though. Ravi Bhadriraju and Andrew Arcurio keep the riffs moving while Jonny Davy switches registers at speed.

Knee Deep And Relinquished

The sudden tempo drops, low vocals and death-metal tremolo in Knee Deep and Relinquished became familiar sounds in mid-2000s deathcore. The production is leaner than on many later records, which makes those changes feel rougher and less predictable.

Job For A Cowboy Moved On

By Genesis, Job for a Cowboy were heading towards technical death metal. Doom remained a short period in their own history, even as other bands kept building on its sound.
