Korn released Follow the Leader on 18 August 1998 through Immortal and Epic. Steve Thompson and Toby Wright produced and engineered the sessions, with Ross Robinson returning to work specifically with Jonathan Davis. The sound got bigger, but it was still unmistakably Korn.

Got The Life And Freak On A Leash

Got the Life puts Fieldy's percussive bass and David Silveria's groove up front. Freak on a Leash moves from a dark verse into that wordless breakdown. Its video, with Todd McFarlane animation and the bullet-time sequence, became almost as recognisable as the song.

Korn TV, Before It Felt Normal

The band broadcast regular studio updates through Korn TV using RealMedia. Watching a band make an album online feels ordinary now. In 1998, it was a much less familiar way to let fans in.

The First Family Values Tour

Korn took Limp Bizkit, Ice Cube, Incubus, Orgy and Rammstein on the first Family Values Tour. Heavy music, hip-hop and industrial bands could fill the same bill and bring in a big audience. Follow the Leader was a huge part of that moment.
