Currents have signed to Rise Records and will release Our Fates Lie In Tandem on 12 February 2027. The 11-track album is their fourth full-length and follows 2023’s The Death We Seek and last year’s reworked Worlds Away EP.
‘Retributioner’ starts the campaign. Guitarist Chris Wiseman produced the album, Ricky Armellino contributed additional production and Jon Dolese mixed it. The video was directed by Chris Klumpp and Errick Easterday.
Currents and ERRA begin their European co-headline run in Utrecht on 2 November.
A wider frame without dropping the pressure
The new song moves in a way Currents listeners will recognise: Wiseman’s low guitar pattern keeps tightening beneath Brian Wille before the chorus opens the track up. What changes is the amount of air around those turns. The electronic pulse and cleaner space do part of the work, so the final breakdown lands without the song behaving like one long setup for it.
“We agreed a track doesn’t need to be ‘a walking breakdown’ in order to make an impact.”
Brian Wille, via Kerrang!
Wille said the album reaches into social commentary and heartbreak, with more personal writing than before. The band describe ‘Retributioner’ as a rejection of the idea that success requires abandoning principles and treating every disagreement like a war.
Our Fates Lie In Tandem tracklist
