Dying Wish released Fragments Of A Bitter Memory on 1 October 2021 through SharpTone Records. The eleven-track record was the Portland band's first full-length.
‘Innate Thirst’, ‘Severing The Senses’ and the title track put Emma Boster's voice over metallic hardcore built from sharp riffs and very little wasted space. The writing stays compact even when the guitars move towards death metal or melodic metalcore.
The album also gave ‘Enemies In Red’ and ‘Drowning In The Silent Black’ a proper home after Dying Wish had already built attention through shorter releases and live shows.
Five years later, the debut remains the clearest introduction to the version of Dying Wish most listeners recognise today: confrontational, melodic when the song needs it, and never interested in stretching a part longer than necessary.
