Kingdom Of Giants will release their sixth album, Usurper, on 13 November through SharpTone Records. The California band have put ‘10 Cent Martyr’ out now as the latest preview, accompanied by an official video.
The single is built around the difference between Dana Willax and JT Cavey’s vocal tones. Willax describes it as a deliberate step away from the most familiar metalcore patterns once listeners get deeper into the record.

“This track for us was a way to branch out from the classic metalcore style riffs.”

An album made in the room together
The members of Kingdom Of Giants live across the West Coast, but made a point of working in person for Usurper. Sessions brought them together in Long Beach, Northern California and Las Vegas. Willax then handled the production, mixing and mastering himself for the first time on a full Kingdom Of Giants record.
That changes the context around the album. The band completed it in eight months, yet Willax says it feels like the result of their full 15 years together. It is also their first full-length since Passenger in 2020, following the Bleeding Star and Burning Chrome EPs.
Usurper runs to eleven tracks
‘Respawn’ opens the album, followed by ‘Out Of Step’ and ‘Reign’. Gabi Rose appears on ‘A Part Of You’, while earlier single ‘The Edge Of A Dream’ sits at the centre of the running order. ‘10 Cent Martyr’ is track nine, before ‘Gods Of Karma’ and closer ‘Past Life’.
‘10 Cent Martyr’ is streaming now. Usurper is available to pre-order ahead of its 13 November release.
