Saosin’s self-titled debut turned 20 on 26 September. It was the band’s first full-length and the record that introduced Cove Reber on album vocals after Anthony Green’s departure.
The opening run from ‘It’s Far Better to Learn’ through ‘It’s So Simple’ still explains the record better than any retrospective slogan. The guitars stay busy, but those choruses never get buried.
‘Voices’, ‘You’re Not Alone’ and ‘Bury Your Head’ carried the singles, while ‘Finding Home’, ‘Follow and Feel’ and ‘Come Close’ kept the album from becoming a three-song nostalgia piece.
Saosin are now taking the complete album back on the road with Cove. Twenty years later, this lineup and this record are in the same room again.
