Volumes released Via on 27 September 2011 through Mediaskare Records. The band marked its fifteenth anniversary by calling it the fan-favourite record that started their journey.
‘Wormholes’ remains the obvious entry point: one of the era’s most recognisable opening riffs, followed by the mix of low-tuned rhythm and bright ambience that defined the album. ‘Paid In Full’, ‘Edge Of The Earth’ and the title track proved that formula could carry more than one standout song.
The dual-vocal setup gave the record another layer. Michael Barr and Gus Farias could trade lines or stack them, while Diego Farias’ guitar work kept the shifts between melody and weight connected.
Via arrived during a crowded period for progressive metalcore, but it never sounded like a technical exercise. The riffs were detailed; the songs were immediate. That balance is why ‘Wormholes’ still leads people back to the full album.
