Yellowcard released their self-titled album on 30 September 2016 through Hopeless Records. It was presented as the band's tenth and final full-length, followed by a farewell tour that ended in 2017.

The record never hides that purpose. ‘Rest In Peace’ opens with a direct goodbye, while ‘The Hurt Is Gone’ and ‘A Place We Set Afire’ keep returning to distance, endings and the question of what remains after a band stops.

The closing chapter did not stay closed. Yellowcard reunited in 2022 and returned to making new music, eventually following the comeback with Better Days in 2025.

That changes how the self-titled album reads at ten. It still documents a real breakup, but it is no longer the final page of the catalogue. The record now captures the end of the band's first run and the distance they needed before starting again.
